There is no official How to Fish Android or iOS version. Here are three safe ways to play on a phone, and what those Play Store listings really are.
How to Fish Android and Mobile: The Honest Answer
Short answer: there is no official Android version of How to Fish, and no iOS version either, as of September 22, 2026. Dazed Games builds the game for Windows and sells it on Steam for $7.99 (app ID 4001890). The only officially supported way to play away from a PC is GeForce NOW, which the studio enabled on September 1, 2026 in patch 1.0.11. Everything promising a native phone app, from the Play Store listings to the "mod APK" sites, is third-party.
Three paths work:
- GeForce NOW on Android or iOS, with the Steam copy you own
- Steam Link from a Windows PC on your home network
- Other cloud PC services, only if their catalog lists the game
Skip the sideloaded APKs.
The Official Position: PC and Cloud Only
How to Fish is listed as a Windows release. Patch 1.0.11 added GeForce NOW support and Steam Deck Verified status; 1.0.12 added Steam Cloud saves. Those three lines are the entire non-desktop story. Across twelve patches, from 1.0.4 on August 21 to 1.0.12 on September 4, there is no mention of an Android build, an iOS build or a touch control scheme.
Official source: How to Fish Steam store page and platform list
Separate fact from inference here. Fact: Dazed Games has never announced a mobile version, no official channel mentions one, and the store page lists Windows only. Inference: the Play Store apps using the name are not authorized. We found no official statement naming them, so "unofficial" is a conclusion drawn from that silence, not a quote from the studio.

What Those Two Play Store Listings Really Are
Both listings copy the Steam store text, and neither names Dazed Games.
| Listing | Package name | Store developer | Signals | Updated |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| "How to Fish" | com.learningplace.howtofish |
THE LEARNING PLACE LTD | 10K+ downloads, 4.0 stars from 368 reviews, contains ads and in-app purchases, rated Everyone 10+ | Sep 8, 2026 |
| "How to Fish Adventure Game" | com.ac.fish.hunting.game |
AROMIK FLAVOURS AND INGREDIENTS (PRIVATE) LIMITED | Shares location and app activity data, data not encrypted and cannot be deleted, PEGI 3 | Sep 11, 2026 |
The first listing's description opens with "How to fish is a 1-4 player physics based fishing simulator." The second describes "a chaotic 1-4 player physics-based fishing simulator" with "pistols, sniper rifles, and dynamite." Both are rewrites of the Steam page as it read at launch.
That gives you a free authenticity test. The Steam version has supported eight players since patch 1.0.4 on August 21, 2026, yet both listings advertise the launch figure of one to four players. Whoever wrote them copied a store page, and the copy is a month stale.
What you give up with a copy:
| What breaks | Why |
|---|---|
| Save transfer | Steam Cloud (1.0.12) syncs Steam PC saves only; nothing moves into a third-party build |
| Co-op with friends | The official game uses Steam lobbies; a copy has no Steam login and cannot join them |
| Balance fixes | Patches like the piranha rebalance and tuna nerf in 1.0.12 never reach a clone |
| Money | Ads and in-app purchases instead of one $7.99 purchase |
| Recourse | No verified developer and no refund path if the listing is removed |
Path 1: GeForce NOW on Android, Step by Step
This is the only route that runs the real game: you are streaming an actual PC.
- Own the game on Steam. GeForce NOW streams your library; it does not sell or lend games.
- Create an NVIDIA account and install the GeForce NOW app from Google Play, or open play.geforcenow.com in a browser.
- Link your Steam account in GeForce NOW's settings. The login happens in NVIDIA's account-linking window, the only place to type those credentials.
- Search the library for How to Fish. It is there because the developer opted the game in on September 1, 2026, alongside patch 1.0.11.
- Launch it and let Steam verify ownership, then pick up wherever your cloud save left off.
- Pair a Bluetooth controller. The PC build has full controller support, including DualSense, and a touch overlay is the weakest way to aim.
- Pick a tier. Free sessions queue behind paying users and cut off sooner; paid tiers buy priority rigs. NVIDIA changes those numbers, so check NVIDIA's current tiers.
Reality checks: you need stable 5 GHz Wi-Fi or 5G, latency matters more than bandwidth, mods will not load because BepInEx is not on the streaming rig, and multiplayer works as on PC, eight-player lobbies included. Our GeForce NOW guide covers the account side.
If you already play on your PC, exit the game cleanly once after 1.0.12 so the save uploads to Steam Cloud. Streamed sessions then pick up your real progress.
Path 2: Steam Link From the PC You Already Own
Steam Link turns your phone into a screen and controller for a PC on the same network. It costs nothing beyond the PC you already own.
- Install How to Fish on a Windows PC and launch it once normally, so the install and saves exist locally.
- Wire the PC to the router if you can, and put the phone on the 5 GHz band. Two hops over 2.4 GHz causes most complaints.
- Install the Steam Link app on the phone.
- Enable Remote Play on the PC under Steam settings, then pair the phone with the four-digit code Steam Link displays.
- Launch the game from Big Picture mode on the phone, with a controller connected to the phone.
- Start at 1080p and 60 fps, then drop to 720p if the picture stutters. If input lags, toggle hardware decoding off: it helps on some Android devices and hurts on others.
- Set up wake-on-LAN if the PC sits headless, or you will walk to it every time you want to fish.
The honest limits: the host PC must stay awake, streaming breaks once you leave the house unless you configure internet remote play, and the busiest fights are where compression hurts. The Pufferfish and final whale encounters are exactly when a stutter costs a run.

Path 3: Other Cloud Services, and the Sites That Pretend to Be One
Any other cloud PC service is only useful if its catalog carries the Steam build. Catalogs change weekly, so check the list on the day you subscribe. Xbox Cloud Gaming and PlayStation Plus are dead ends: there is no console version to stream.
Then there are sites styling themselves as an official mobile gateway, with keyword-rich headlines and a "sponsor verification" step before anything loads. That is a lead-generation funnel, not a Dazed Games product. The studio has one web presence and one store page, and neither runs a verification gate.
Never enter your Steam username, password or Steam Guard code into a page that is not Steam's own login screen or a cloud service's official account-linking flow. If a site asks you to verify a sponsor before playing, close the tab.
Why the Mod APK Is a Bad Trade
Search for an Android build and you will hit aggregator pages advertising a "Mod APK" with unlimited money. Even where one installs cleanly, it cannot log into Steam: that removes co-op, cloud saves and achievements at once, and leaves you playing only with others running the same file.
The rest of the ledger is worse than the pitch:
- No signature you can verify. The code is whatever the uploader compiled, with whatever permissions its manifest requests.
- No update path. Official balance changes ship through Steam; a sideloaded build stays frozen at the version it was ripped from.
- No refund and no support. If the file misbehaves, there is no store to appeal to.
- The porters call it unofficial themselves. The Android port circulating in 2026 is labeled that way by the people distributing it, including a r/AndroidNativePorts thread and YouTube videos with "Unofficial Port" in the title.
Touch Controls vs a Controller
If you cloud-stream, the controller question decides whether bosses are fun.
| Activity | Touch screen | Bluetooth controller |
|---|---|---|
| Casting and reeling | Workable | Comfortable |
| Aiming at a boss weak point | Poor: no fine aim and no aim assist | Good |
| Driving the boat and reading the radar | Clumsy with two thumbs | Good |
| Cooking and shop menus | Fine | Fine |
| Trick shots and kill-score stacking | Not realistic | Doable with practice |
The Steam build added toggle-aim, toggle-sprint and hold-to-attack options in 1.0.11, which matter more on a small screen. Our tips and tricks page covers which settings change a fight.
FAQ
Is How to Fish on Android?
No. As of September 22, 2026 there is no official Android or iOS version. It is a Windows release on Steam, playable away from a desktop through GeForce NOW. For the other platform question, see the Roblox page.
Can I play How to Fish on my phone at all?
Yes, through streaming. GeForce NOW has supported the game officially since September 1, 2026, and Steam Link can stream it from your own PC.
Are the Google Play How to Fish apps official?
They are published by other companies, and neither listing names Dazed Games. Both descriptions copy the launch version of the Steam store page, including a one-to-four player figure the real game outgrew on August 21, 2026.
Is a How to Fish APK safe to install?
We do not recommend one. A sideloaded build cannot log into Steam, so it loses co-op, cloud saves and achievements, with no verified developer, no update path and no refund.
Do I need to buy the game to play it on GeForce NOW?
Yes. GeForce NOW only streams games you own: the $7.99 Steam copy, plus a GFN account or tier.
Does mobile cloud play still support co-op?
Yes. You are running the PC build on a remote rig, so eight-player lobbies, private invite lobbies and shared-wallet rules all work as on a desktop. Our co-op and crossplay guide explains those limits.
